Purpose:

The Make-A-Wish Foundation raises money to use to grant wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Events: 

California Classic Fundraiser - ticket booth, invitation prep, obtaining prizes & donations, set-up.
Office/Clerical Support - address donor acknowledgements, filing, mailings, marketing support, data entry, answering phones, general administrative tasks.
Professional Support - legal assistance, graphic design, computer support, financial management, accounting assistance, fundraising, public speaking, photography.
Bilingual Volunteers
Wish Granting -
interview children and families, complete wish paperwork, serve as liaison between wish family and chapter office, make the wish special for the child.
Volunteers who work with children must go through a background check - nominal fee.

Purpose:

Our County’s excellent non-profit philharmonic orchestra, which not only raises money to perform, but also offers free programs to children and seniors. Performs at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium,

Events: 

Orchestra Performances are: Oct. 8, 2005; Nov. 12, 2005; Jan. 14, 2006; Mar. 11, 2006.  Ticktockers are needed to usher at these performances, and as an extra you get to hear the symphony! Performances at 8:00 PM. You will need to be there earlier for training.

Riverside County Regional Medical Center

Purpose:

Huge regional hospital whose patient population includes the indigent and MediCal patients, and those who cannot afford care.

Events: 

Festival of the Trees: (Thanksgiving Weekend) This event, which is sponsored by the Hospital Foundation to raise money for the children at the hospital. Volunteers work at various booths, games, food and face painting booths. There is a Santa visit, as well as special events such as the Teddy Bear Tea. 
Garden of Spring Tour: (April & May) Volunteers act as hostesses, sell tickets, and helps with serving refreshments at each home garden.  
Medical Center Volunteering: Volunteers help make tray favors for the patients trays and may help on the units with the patients. Some current shots may be required to work with patients.

To give quality care and volunteer support to the terminally ill and their families.

Events: 

Octoberfest (Oct.7)

Thrift Shop (ongoing): Volunteers help with pricing, putting clothes on hangers, sorting and cleaning. Donations of clothing,household items, furniture, etc. welcome!

There are many opportunities for volunteers including making cookies, blankets, honoring requests of the dying and bereavement education.  There is some training and education involved in these activities and this philanthropy really needs a class commitment.

A non-profit shelter that houses lost and homeless animals and tries to find them homes.
