Suzanne and Sonny Rodgers, relative of the late Jimmie Rodgers. "What a delightful man Sonny is and a talented picker I might add! It was a pure pleasure to meet him." This was Spring Fest 1999, Mountain View, Arkansas |
A real country girl at heart! "As long as I can remember my Dad has had horses. At one time he had as many as thirteen. Now he has one of his own and boards this sweet one named Poppett."

Suzanne sadly announces that Sonny Rodgers passed away on July 1, 2001 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a friend to many and loved by all. His warmth and smile would light up a room. Sonny will be deeply missed by all of us who's lives he touched. "Thank you Sonny for blessing us all with your talent and friendship."
This note along with the photos above was sent to me in August of 2006 by Mike Johnson and I'd like to share it with you. Sonny touched so many hearts and loves, this is an example of I hope you enjoy.....
I came across your
site because some of the hits to my CD Baby site mentioned my late, good friend,
Sonny Rodgers. I also performed on his 1999 and 2000 Yodelers Paradise Show at
the Old-Time Country Music Festival in Avoca, Iowa.
During my trucking trips I'd drop in on him when my destinations took me
through South, Carolina. I was one of the last people to visit him before he
passed away. sonny was definitely a one of a kind heart that embraced and
endeared everyone he met. My July/August 2001 Issue of the Top-Rail Cahtter
magazine [ceased publication in 2004] was dedicated to him.
Thanks from us here at Roughshod Records and all of his yodeling friends, for
the tribute to a wonderful person.
