Lane Brody

"Pieces Of Life"

Very Rarely do I hear a CD and just kinda say to myself, Why haven't I heard of this person? Lane Brody's newest album is an incredible piece of work. Let me tell you a bit about Lane, just in case you have not heard of her. She has done a lot in her life. She isn't the profile of your average country singer. She has done some acting, doing bit parts in shows like Taxi. She has done TV jingles for Macdonald's, 7Up and others. Her biggest hit "Over You" (nominated for a grammy in the 80's), on the sound track of the film "Tender Mercies" is included here; reaching #1 on both country and pop charts. Lane is just not another pretty face, but more a very unusually rich, pure voice.

Her updated alt/country version of "The Yellow Rose" ,sung with Johnny Lee (included here) became a #1 country hit. Sung with an edge to her vocals.

This album contains the most star studded talent roster of studio musicians I've ever seen. Her husband and co-producer Eddie Bayers plays drums. Guitarists Brent Rowan, Brent Mason, Pat Buchanan, Biff Watson and Don Potter (The Judd's band leader for years). Bass player: Michael Rhodes. Steel players Paul Franklin and Dan Dugmore. Guest singers Alison Krauss and Collin Raye. Sorry for many that I left out. Songs are by Lane and others. Mastered by Hank Williams of Master Mix.

"White Shadows" - Duet with Alison Krauss, a beautiful moving ballad, haunting acoustic piece with two of the best voices in the business
"You Are The One" - very moving love song, great acoustic guitar work with some incredible pedal steel by Paul Franklin
"I'll Be Seeing You" - a slow, jazzy sounding song with some great guitar work by David Hungate
"the song" - just a beautiful, slow song with strings, Lane's vocals just plain sparkle, the production is so sweet sounding
"Over You" - this is Lane's biggest hit - a great upbeat country song with a great bass line, nice duel guitar part
"My Mind Wanders" - some great lyrics with beautiful delivery by Lane, mid-tempo song, great steel by Dan Dugmore
"Plenty More love" - Upbeat country song with a very catchy chorus featuring Brent Rowan on lead guitar (awesome break)
"Til You Found Me" - beautiful imagery in the lyrics of this song featuring Brent Mason on lead guitar (another awesome lead), mid-tempo country song that has some great hooks

I'll have to say, this album blew me away, can't get enough of it. If you think that Martina and Faith are the best, check this out.
This is easily one of the best country CDs that I have heard not on a major label, great voice, great songs, the best musicians, flawless production. This CD proves what is wrong with country radio today, Lane is better than most singers on the eight song super sweeps.
