Jill King

"Jillbilly"
On the way she ran into Joe Kelly who was looking for a top artist for his new indie label "Blue Diamond Records".
For her first album "Jillbilly", they pulled out all of the stops, recording at a couple of Nashville's best studios, including Ocean Way, where Vince Gill recorded his last CD. Two of the best Nashville studio musicians at their prospective instruments are on the album. Brent Mason, one of Nashville's all time best studio guitarists and legendary Larry Franklin on fiddle. Many other top flight musicians are also used.
The music itself has a traditional sound with an electric charge to it. Her opening cut "98.6 Degrees" by (Matraca Berg/Harlan Howard) is one of the hottest songs on the album. "Not Knowing Anymore" is a great country heartbreak song. A great song that Jill wrote is another heartbreak ballad "Three Months, Two Weeks, One Day". My other favorite is the acoustic "Down To The Fields To Hay" that Jill wrote.
Some of the songs have an electric rockabilly feel to them, great background vocals, Brent Mason cooks on guitar. Jill has a real rich sounding, emotive country voice. She really puts her heart and soul into her singing. The album is a pretty even mix of upbeat songs and slow ballads. I like her slow ballads best.
Jill has a real first class debut CD that rings with the quality of a major artist. She sure has paid her dues to get to where she is and has a great positive attitude about her career.
