Patricia
Ortlieb is a watercolorist and has designed greeting cards. Her
art training includes attending Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles,
UCLA, and Pepperdine University. She has enjoyed drawing and
painting all her life.
She
is presently an active Docent at the San Diego Museum of Art.
Her
diverse career has included teaching college classes as well as
elementary school, being a psychotherapist, and being a consultant
to business sales and management training programs for
international hotels.
She has
traveled extensively, including world cruises and adventures in
Antarctica and has lived in Spain and Germany. Her travels also
took her to Bahia, Brazil, home of this famous Navel Orange.
Her
motive for painting the Giant Orange is to tell the true story of
Eliza Lovell Tibbets, her great-great-grandmother, who introduced
the Navel Orange to Riverside and began the California citrus
industry. Eliza was a pioneer in Riverside in 1874; and Patricia
now feels it’s fun to be part of this new project in 2006. She
wants Shawn, her son, grandsons Cameron and Trevor, and
granddaughter Eleanor to know their history.
