Health Issues

Like all breeds Welsh Springer Spaniels have inherited health problems.  The major concerns in this breed are: hip dysplasia, epilepsy, and glaucoma.  At the present time there is no genetic test (DNA) to eliminate these diseases from breeding stock.  Until this happens we must attempt to decrease the incidence by using dogs who have either have been tested clear of these diseases or in which the disease is not prominent in the pedigree.
